Slightly Married, Mostly Mental
Three women, each juggling hilariously chaotic lives and all three with different problems in the bedroom,
Marianne Married a long time and looking for passion, in fact anything that makes her less of a 'practical option' with Jaffa cake in her hair and ham on her slippers and more erotic temptress, expert in tantalising impromptu dance - with a scarf - that itches.
Lottie Her boudoir is decked out in every contraption to satisfy her quest for the ultimate sexual pleasure that does not involve a bath in Dettol afterwards.
Patsy Perfect in every way apart from her deep seated fear that her philandering partner is beyond her reach. What was once a sexy arrangement now feels like a fob off.
This laugh out loud novella is laced with eye wateringly funny escapades and witty banter that will have you snorting your tea out your nose.
But beneath the raucous romp there are entrenched worries and insecurities.
Since having kids Marianne finds herself getting weepy at everything. She can't talk to her kids teacher without feeling her throat tighten and she'd cried at a video of someone falling off their skateboard earlier that day. It's like becoming a mother has left a bruise, a tender area in her psyche that she feels weakens and undermines her. After all if she can't trust herself not to cry at the drop of a hat or fart when she bends over how could she find the confidence to be an alluring temptress after the washing up is done? This desperation pushes her to do extreme antics that we can have a good laugh at but cover up a troubled and lost soul.
Patsy continually contorting her lithe body into pretzel shapes, dogs and cows and every other farm animal that springs to mind thinking this is what Jerry appreciate only to find he's looking the other way, totally oblivious to her anymore. Patsy desperately wants to share her worries but can't let her perfect crown slip.
Lottie, loud and unapologetically revealing the details of her sexual antics at top volume is ever in the position of smoothing out everybody else's life wrinkles. Whilst trying to build her sex advice business, she has ants in places she shouldn't, her husband's persistent anal tear, the friction caused by Patsy and the never ending pressure of looking after her grandchildren.
This is a short novel, perfect for busy women who want a quick funny read with emotional depth to bond you to these characters and their journey through the chaos of family life and friendship.
Three; mums. One frog commune. A toddler group toilet disaster.
